Crucial Success Skills Forged Through My Journey

With my foundation laid at the Hyatt Regency Delhi, where I began as a Management Trainee, I embarked on a journey steeped in the intricate workings of the hospitality industry. My time there exposed me to various departments, offering a holistic understanding of how collaboration fuels operational success and drives profitability in the realm of hotels. This experience instilled in me the value of teamwork and the critical role it plays in achieving collective goals within the hospitality sector. Throughout my career journey, I've had the privilege of working with esteemed organizations such as Hyatt International, Six Senses, IHCL, The Leela, Marriott International, and MGM Muthu Hotels in the United Kingdom, as well as GITAM University in India. 

This diverse experience has equipped me with a robust background in Human Resources, enabling me to make a positive impact in each industry I've served. One notable role I held was as the Cluster Human Resources Manager - UK at MGM Muthu Hotels, where I oversaw operations for 12 hotels spanning across Scotland and England. In this capacity, I managed comprehensive HR processes nationwide and also served as the Data Protection Officer for the UK, Portugal, and Spain regions. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, I adeptly navigated workforce management, ensuring seamless operations including the successful implementation of the Furlough scheme without adverse effects on employees. My tenure at GITAM University provided me with invaluable experiences in corporate office dynamics, where I spearheaded impactful changes in policies and procedures. 

Additionally, I led the university's Talent Acquisition efforts, resulting in a significant improvement with approximately 1200 new hires and inductions during my tenure. Over the years, I've honed my skills in benefits and compensation administration, recruitment, and leadership. I've contributed to organizational improvements, fostered collaborative team efforts, and consistently achieved key business targets. Driven by a belief in continuous learning, I've pursued relevant courses and certifications to enhance my skills. I hold qualifications in Hotel Management from NCHMCT, Labour Law Management from XLRI, and Engagement in HR from eCornell. With a commitment to innovation, effective management, and performance evaluation, I am dedicated to making meaningful contributions wherever I go.

When facing adversity, I try to adopt a mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable obstacles. I begin by assessing the situation objectively, breaking it down into manageable parts, and then devising a plan of action. Maintaining resilience and perseverance is key, as setbacks are inevitable but temporary. From overcoming challenges, I've learned valuable lessons about patience, adaptability, and the power of resilience. Adversity has taught me to embrace change and uncertainty, as they often lead to personal and professional development. Additionally, I've come to appreciate the importance of seeking support from others and leveraging their expertise and encouragement during tough times. Ultimately, every hurdle I've faced has provided me with the chance to learn, grow, and emerge stronger than before. These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills and perspectives that I can apply to future challenges, making me more resilient and adaptable in the face of adversity.

My Impact

Reflecting on my contributions to my community and field, I believe I've made a meaningful impact by developing the local community where I worked in terms of awareness as well as facilities. During my tenure as a HR head in different cities, I can proudly say that we were able to impact the lives of many underprivileged students, communities and the flora and fauna around us. Whether it's volunteering at local organizations, mentoring aspiring professionals, or advocating for positive change, I strive to make a difference in the lives of others. In my community, I've witnessed the tangible effects of my efforts, from fostering a sense of belonging to spearheading projects that address pressing issues. 

Whether it's through organizing events that bring people together or participating in community clean-up efforts, I've seen how collective action can lead to positive change. In my field, I've sought to share my knowledge and expertise with others, whether it's through teaching, writing, or speaking engagements in the colleges and universities. By empowering individuals with the skills and insights they need to succeed, I've helped cultivate a culture of continuous learning and growth. Overall, I believe my impact extends beyond mere actions; it lies in the relationships I've built, the lives I've touched, and the lasting change I've helped facilitate. While the true measure of impact may be difficult to quantify, I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute positively to my community, field, and the lives of others.

Ultimately, success, to me, is about living authentically, making meaningful contributions, and continuously striving to become the best version of myself. Originating from a modest upbringing in a small town in Northeast India, my journey has been marked by resilience and determination in the face of adversity. This aligns seamlessly with the values and objectives of this recognition, which celebrates perseverance, hard work, and resilience. Growing up in an environment where basic resources like transportation and electricity were scarce, I quickly learned the importance of seizing each day's unique opportunities and challenges as catalysts for personal growth. Despite the challenges posed by my humble background and the tumultuous locale of Assam and Arunachal, I remained steadfast in pursuing my goals. The ethos of this recognition, emphasizing hard work, resilience, and determination, resonates deeply with my journey. 

The conviction that perseverance can overcome any obstacle has been my guiding principle. With each setback, my resolve has only strengthened. My life serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and tenacity in defying circumstances and achieving success. It is my hope that by sharing my experiences, I can inspire others to believe that with unwavering persistence and determination, no goal is beyond reach.
