Founder & Designer at Twee In One

Twee: A Journey from Indore to Milan, Rooted in Purpose and CreativityI grew up in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, surrounded by the warmth and chaos of a Marwari joint family. Ours was a home filled with color, craft, and culture and a constant hum of creativity. As one of three sisters, I was enrolled in everything from classical music and kathak to painting and craft. But what stayed with me most was my love for creating with my hands drawing, stitching, assembling, experimenting. My mother played a huge role in shaping that passion. A businesswoman and designer herself, she encouraged me to explore every idea and allowed me full access to her workshop during my college years. I pursued fashion design at SDPS College in Indore, affiliated with SNDT University. Unlike many, I chose not to leave home not out of comfort, but because I knew that learning beside her was just as valuable as anything Id find in a classroom. After graduating, I interned at an export house in Mumbai. It wasnt glamorous my first task was cleaning a dusty storeroom filled with old swatches. But that storeroom became a library of learning. I studied patterns, textures, and silhouettes, discovering how even the smallest detail could transform a garment. I carried that attitude with me finding value in every small job, from photocopying documents to buying threads from the local market.I then spent a few years working under my mother but not as her daughter. She treated me like any other employee: punctuality was mandatory, distractions werent allowed, and excellence was non-negotiable. That discipline became the foundation for my work ethic. After six years of hands-on learning, I decided to deepen my craft by pursuing a Masters in fashion design in Milan. Moving to Italy was a big shift culturally, emotionally, and academically. I arrived mid-winter, not knowing the language and quickly realizing how much the industry had evolved since I had last studied it. I found myself sneaking into undergraduate classes to catch up on everything from new tech tools to contemporary design processes. Thankfully, some professors noticed and supported me. It wasnt easy, but it was transformative. While in Milan, I landed my dream job designing embroidery for luxury houses like Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana. It was surreal. And yet, while working with exquisite fashion, I lived out of a single IKEA wardrobe, sharing a small apartment with eight people. My weekends were spent shopping, but ironically, I still felt like I had nothing to wear. That irony sparked an idea: what if fashion could do more with less? And thats how Twee was born not as a business, but as a personal solution. I envisioned a line of smart, reversible, and multifunctional clothing that could offer multiple looks without the need for more space, more spending, or more waste. When I returned to India, I decided to build not just a fashion brand, but a purpose-driven label rooted in sustainability and mindful consumption. At House of Twee, we design garments that are elegant, efficient, and ethical. We work on quick turnaround times without compromising quality, reuse fabric scraps for kidswear or home goods, and employ women affected by the pandemic to create our packaging. Every piece is meant to last, adapt, and evolve just like the women who wear them.Sustainability for us isnt just about organic fabric its about the entire ecosystem. We pay our artisans and workers fairly. We produce in small batches to avoid overstock. We innovate with polyester blends when it makes sense, especially for reversible pieces, and always find ways to upcycle, reduce, and reuse.Beyond Twee, I also consult for homegrown brands helping them scale without losing sight of purpose, design small-batch strategies, and build sustainable business models that tell compelling stories.Today, Im also pursuing a PhD in sustainable fashion, because I believe that learning should never stop especially in an industry that is constantly evolving and has such a massive environmental footprint. On the personal front, I met my now-husband, Harnesh a fashion and advertising photographer during a fashion accelerator program. We were randomly paired for a test shoot, and from there, began a six-year journey that led to marriage. We now share an office space and constantly exchange ideas from AI and tech to fabric innovations and campaign narratives.Through every phase from dusty storerooms in Mumbai to the cobbled streets of Milan one belief has guided me: Fashion should be functional, beautiful, and responsible.Twee is an extension of that belief. Its not just about dressing up its about dressing smart, with intention and integrity. My dream is simple: that every woman owns just one Twee garment. One piece that she loves, wears in multiple ways, and never wants to throw out. If we can achieve that, well be moving fashion forward one reversible design at a time.
