Adwaith P.V.: The Young Warrior of Vypin Inspiring a Generation

"The most important skills that helped me succeed are discipline, confidence, time management, and a strong sense of responsibility." I developed discipline mainly through my karate training. From the time I was in 3rd standard, my coach Manoj Sir always reminded me that consistent practice, respect, and focus are what make a true martial artist. That mindset helped me not just in karate, but in every area of my life. Confidence came step by step. When I started participating in competitions — whether it was karate, judo, athletics, or even art — I learned how to face an audience, judges, and pressure. Winning or losing didn’t matter as much as learning and growing from each experience. Time management became important when I had to balance school, training, competitions, and social service. I created a proper routine for myself. Waking up early, training with Pepper (my Labrador), finishing schoolwork on time, and staying active in environmental work — it all needed planning. Slowly, it became a part of my lifestyle. Most of all, I developed a strong sense of responsibility towards my society and nature. Joining clean-up drives, making posters for awareness, and taking part in projects like Little Kites made me realize that even as a student, I can bring change. Helping others and protecting the environment gives me real happiness. These skills didn’t come overnight. I developed them through hard work, support from my parents and teachers, and the decision to stay active and positive — no matter what."When I go through tough times, I remind myself that every challenge is a chance to grow stronger — mentally and physically." Whether it’s a tough competition, a loss, an injury, or personal struggles, I try to stay calm and focused. I believe in facing problems instead of running away from them. I take a moment, breathe deeply, and think about what I can control and improve. In difficult times, my training helps me a lot. Martial arts taught me patience, self-control, and how to stay balanced even when things don’t go my way. Running also clears my mind — when I run, I feel free and strong. I’ve learned that support from family, teachers, and true friends is very important. My parents always encourage me, and I never hesitate to ask for guidance when I need it. Most importantly, I’ve learned that failures are not the end — they are lessons. Every time I’ve fallen, I’ve stood back up with more power. Tough times teach me how strong I really am."I believe I’ve made a difference by taking action instead of just watching from the side." In my community, I’ve always tried to be active — not just in sports, but in creating awareness and helping others. Whether it’s joining beach clean-up drives with Malinyamukthanavakeralam, spreading messages through posters for Little Kites, or speaking to people about saving trees and reducing plastic, I feel proud that my small efforts have created awareness. Through my achievements in karate, judo, and athletics, I’ve also tried to inspire other students. Many of my juniors come to me asking how to start training or how to stay motivated. I always tell them, "If I can do it, you can too." That’s a powerful feeling — to motivate others just by being yourself. Even in school, I try to set a good example. Whether it’s staying disciplined, respecting teachers, or helping classmates, I’ve always wanted to be someone others can count on. I know I still have a long way to go, but I truly believe that even small actions can create big changes when done from the heart."One of the most pivotal moments in my journey was when I set the Kerala record by doing 300 two-handed punches in the Shiko Dachi position in just 30 seconds." That moment wasn’t just about setting a record — it was about proving to myself that my hard work, dedication, and discipline had paid off. I had trained for weeks, pushing my limits, correcting every movement, and focusing on every second. On the day of the attempt, I wasn’t just thinking about the number — I was thinking about the years of training, the sweat, the failures, and the comeback. When the record was confirmed, I felt a deep sense of pride. Not because I became famous or won an award, but because I had done something that challenged me mentally and physically. It became a reminder that I can achieve anything if I stay focused. That moment gave me the confidence to aim higher — in athletics, martial arts, and even in social work. It was a turning point where I truly felt, “Yes, I’m on the right path.”"For me, success is not just about medals or awards — it’s about becoming the best version of myself and making a positive impact on others." I believe success means staying true to your values, working hard every day, and using your talents to help your community. Even a small act of kindness or inspiring someone to chase their dreams is a form of success. My goals are clear. I want to become a top-level athlete, especially in 100m and 400m sprinting, and represent India one day. I also want to continue my journey in martial arts, improve my skills, and break more records. But at the same time, I want to stay active in social service — protecting the environment, supporting good causes, and motivating students like me. Success, for me, is a journey. It’s in every early morning run, every drop of sweat, every lesson learned, and every smile I bring to someone else’s face.
