Your Current Role:
I
am on a break right now. I took the break to do my MBA from IIM-A which has
been my lifelong dream. My last position was MD with JP Morgan India Services
Ltd.
Advancing Your Journey Forward:
I
was hired as a Management Trainee at TATA's. I was given a double increment in
my probation. Challenges were always to prove ourselves in a male dominated
world. There were many times where I was the only woman in a room full of men.
In order to get yourself heard you had to be best at your craft & work. The
performance got noticed and I advanced in my career.
Overcoming Challenges:
Being a working mother has its challenges. Managing home, child and career is tough for all women. The support of my husband and my parents helped in excelling in both my professional and personal lives.
My husband & I shared the
responsibility of household chores, taking care of our son's studies and
extra-curricular activities. When you have a loving, caring & supportive
spouse half of the battle is won. What u need is talent, perseverance, mental
fortitude & a never give up attitude. Its not what you achieve, it's what
you overcome that defines your career.
Who Is Your Idol/Mentor:
Dr.
R.H.Patil who was the Chairman of NSE as well as CCIL was my idol who was a
visionary and Mr. Wolfgang Platzer who was my mentor and my best boss ever. I
learnt the art of aiming for the stars and worked relentlessly to achieve my
goals. I also learnt that "Leadership is practiced not so much in words as
in attitude and in action.
A Turning Point In Your Life And How Did It Impact You:
Turning
point in my life was when I got recognized for my work in the initial days of
my career which propelled me to rise up and do more. I am very energetic,
enthusiastic & passionate to learn new things and I put in my best of best
efforts to excel in what i do. People with great passion can make the
impossible happen.
You Advice:
Always have the hunger to learn, do your work efficiently, do it better than the previous time. Be thorough in your domain, be assertive and receptive to new ideas, have empathy and take your team with you. Be a people's person, and have a positive attitude always.
My belief is - for every problem there's a solution, we just need the drive to find it. Be energetic, enthusiastic, passionate, humble and take the challenges head on and strive ahead. Be the best in whatever you do. Always strive to do better than the best each time and every time and work hard as there is no elevator to success, you have to take the steps. Committing to excellence, doing whatever it takes, juggling skills & talent, yearning to succeed. Always have the fire in your belly to excel.
